Data protection & ethics

The data protection concept describes the data protection and IT security measures for the “MuSPAD” study by the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research. The data collection and the handling of the data takes place in accordance with the data protection concept. The study also fulfills the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

The data protection concept was coordinated with the data protection officer of the HZI and approved by the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI). The study is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the guidelines and recommendations for ensuring good epidemiological practice of the German Society for Epidemiology.

The MuSPAD study was advised by the ethics committee of the Hannover Medical School, which works on the basis of the ethics code. The ethics committee has no concerns.
